What if we made Abomination, but stronger and more straightforward? That's what Blazing Lord is. Blazing Lord is one of the classic new class mod for Darkest Dungeon. The mod was made along with another DLC-sized area mod called Skyward Isles.
Blazing Lord is a transformation class, whose kit relies on dealing damage and setting up enemies in Human Form and finishing them off in Beast Form. The mod was made along with another DLC-sized area mod called Skyward Isles. It was made by Icarus and anaertailin. Blazing Lord is similar to Abomination but stronger. That's what Blazing Lord is. Which makes her a strong frontline character. But there's something more to what makes Blazing Lord a special class mod other than being a unique transformation class mod.
In Human Form, Blazing Lord focuses more on dealing damage to enemies on every rank, but rather ideal to deal with enemies from rank 1 to rank 2. Her ideal position is of course rank 1 to rank 2. While her targeting in Human Form is limited, her movement isn't. Although her defensive stat is poor and her offensive is mediocre, similar to Abomination, her uniqueness lies in her skill slots that are open to her whole 7 skills, which you can always use. This gives her the advantage of the movement to use all her skill on every rank while in Human Form. "Slash" is Blazing Lord's main skill that deals moderate to high damage against enemies from rank 1 to rank 2, while the rest of her Human Form's skill are more situational. Shambler shuffles your Blazing Lord to back rank? She can dash back again to rank 1 with "Kick". Annoying enemies from ranks 3 and 4? Burn and mark them with "Foxfire". Feel like rampaging more? Time to go Beast Form with "Spirit of the Fox God".
Beast Form is where Blazing Lord's damage output and survivability go even higher. "Essence Steal" deals a high damage against enemies with low HP and is able to heal herself upon hit. "Cut Down" is a strong AOE skill than can strike all enemies from rank 1 to rank 3. "Decimate" is like her name, it can instantly kill every dying enemy in all ranks and clear all corpses. Pretty amazing right. But there's a catch. Beast Form increases her stress level every round, so it's recommended to play carefully with this strong form of her or bring a Jester.
Speaking of her lore, Blazing Lord is written pretty well. Described as a loyal and skillful warrior yet hides her chaotic side. Not only her skills that are unique, but she also has a unique bark line both in battle and in the campfire. Blazing Lord talks also in two forms, Beast or Human, that you can recognize from the color of her bark line. If it's blue, then it's the Beast speaking. While orange is when her human speaking. Pretty cool concept. You can't ignore her art style either. A mix of anime art style and Darkest Dungeon pencil drawing. Although it looks different than the vanilla heroes, Blazing Lord still fits in the grim dark world of Darkest Dungeon.
